Earlier in the day, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had predicted a generally cloudy sky with moderate to heavy rainfall across Mumbai and its suburbs on Tuesday

The IMD on Tuesday morning had said that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning was very likely during the day

A yellow alert was been issued by the weather department for Tuesday

The alert warned of rain, thunderstorms with lightning, and gusty winds reaching speeds of 30-40 kmph at isolated locations
