The project is aimed at easing pedestrian movement and improving safety for thousands of daily commuters in the area

The skywalk will be approximately 740 metres long and will have an average width of six metres

To make the skywalk easily accessible, escalators will be installed at two points, while staircases will be provided at three locations along the stretch

The elevated walkway will reduce the need for pedestrians to cross busy roads at ground level, especially near the crowded Bandra East station and Kalanagar junction

The new skywalk replaces the old one that was constructed in 2008 and became dilapidated within 15 years of its construction. It was eventually shut down in 2019 and dismantled in 2021
