On the first day of the Maharashtra Legislature’s Monsoon Session, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, along with several cabinet ministers and legislators, gathered at the Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai

As part of the ceremonial tradition, the leaders offered floral tributes to the statue of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the Vidhan Bhavan premises

The opposition is likely to raise the issues of corruption, three-language policy row and the state's law and order during the session

The first day of the session began with a protest by the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders outside the Vidhan Bhavan over the issue of 'Hindi imposition'

Aaditya Thackeray, along with Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council, Ambadas Danve, as well as Bhaskar Jadhav and other opposition legislators staged a symbolic protest on the steps of Vidhan Bhavan here, holding placards reading "Mi Marathi (I am Marathi)"
