On May 14, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis had flagged off the trial run and technical inspection of Phase-1 of Metro Line-9
The line connects Mira-Bhayandar to Mumbai’s western and eastern suburbs as well as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA)
Once fully operational, the metro line will provide direct commute to Mumbai Airport via Metro Lines 7 and 7A, Andheri (West) via Line 2B, Ghatkopar via Lines 7 and 1, Link Road via Line-2A at Dahisar (East), Thane via Line-10 (future development), Vasai-Virar via the upcoming Line-13
Phase-1 spans 4.4 km, running from Dahisar (East) to Kashigaon, with stations at Dahisar (East), Pandurangwadi, Miragaon, and Kashigaon
It is a part of India’s first double-decker metro and flyover project, sharing a single viaduct structure
