According to the IMD, many districts in the state are likely to witness dense to very dense fog on Friday, accompanied by cold day conditions and a continuing cold wave during daytime hours
In Prayagraj, the daytime temperature on Friday is expected to hover around 16 degrees Celsius, causing people to shiver even during the day, while the minimum temperature is likely to dip below 10 degrees Celsius
Cold winds are expected to blow at a speed of around 7 kmph, further intensifying the chill
The weather department has also warned that visibility in Prayagraj could drop to as low as 50 to 100 metres due to dense fog, prompting advisories for motorists to exercise extreme caution while driving. In view of the ongoing Magh Mela Prayagraj 2026, the IMD has issued a special alert for pilgrims, warning of severe cold, cold wave conditions, and dense fog throughout January, as per the reports
Devotees visiting the city have been advised to take adequate precautions, including wearing warm clothing and avoiding travel during early morning and late night hours
