On Wednesday, Kiren Rijiju called Rahul Gandhi’s Haryana poll vote theft claims “false and baseless,” accusing him of misleading the public and defaming India’s democracy. PIC/PTI

The BJP leader’s remarks came hours after Gandhi cited electoral-list data claiming 25 lakh fake entries in Haryana and alleged that Congress was “stolen” out of victory in last year’s state polls

Rijiju rejected these claims, calling them “nonsensical and illogical,” and argued that Congress lost due to internal mismanagement and lack of coordination among its leaders

He pointed to statements by senior Congress leaders, including Kumari Selja and Haryana Congress president Rao Narendra Singh, who admitted poor party organisation during the Haryana polls. Rijiju also cited a former Congress leader’s resignation, which highlighted the party’s internal dysfunction

Rijiju further criticised Gandhi for “abusing the country, its system, and democratic institutions” while frequently travelling abroad during election campaigns, including trips to Cambodia, Thailand, and Colombia

Accusing Gandhi of colluding with “anti-India forces” to defame the country, Rijiju asserted that the youth firmly support Prime Minister Narendra Modi, citing India’s strong economic growth of over 7 per cent despite a global slowdown
