The ‘Bharat Bandh’ was called by a joint forum of central trade unions to protest against recent labour reforms and what they described as policies that weaken workers’ protections and rights following which a protest was also organised at Gurugram on Thursday
Bank employees were seen holding a sit-in protest in front of a closed branch of a bank in at Kolkata during the nationwide strike
Left parties and the Congress also extended their support to the strike in the national capital
The unions strike comes amid the ongoing standoff between the government and the Opposition over the India-US interim trade deal during the current Budget session
