During the second ODI match against Australia, Team India's traditional opening batsman Rohit Sharma played a stunning knock of 73 runs off 97 deliveries. His knock was laced with seven boundaries and two maximums

With this, he scripted history by becoming the first Indian batsman to score 1000 runs in India-Australia ODI matches in Australian soil

So far, in 21 matches, the right-hander has accumulated 1071 runs against Australia in their backyard with an average of 56.36 and a strike rate of 89.32. He also has four tons and three half-centuries, with a top score of an unbeaten 171 runs

Currently, in 275 ODIs and 267 innings, Rohit has scored 11,249 runs at an average of 48.69, with 32 centuries and 59 fifties and a best score of 264

Competing with him is Virat Kohli, who currently stands second with 802 runs, in the race to become India's highest run-scorer against Australia in ODIs
