Shruhad Goswami and Smriti Irani

Exclusive | Shruhad Goswami on working with Smriti Irani in Kyunki 2

Gujarati actor Shruhad Goswami, widely loved for his portrayal of Krishna in the blockbuster Gujarati film Laalo, is all set to enter Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi for a special episode. In an exclusive chat with mid-day, the actor opened up about how the opportunity arrived, stepping into Hindi television for the first time, and what he hopes to learn from Smriti Irani. Speaking about how Laalo paved the way for his entry into the popular TV series, Shruhad shared, “Because of Laalo, I came here. Laalo went well; it went very well. The film's business is 100 crores.” The film’s tremendous success caught the attention of the show’s makers. “So, I got a call that there is a special episode, a special event. So, would you like to do it? I said, Why not? I'll do it. And then we talked, and today I'm going to shoot.” Shruhad confirmed that he will be stepping into a Krishna avatar, but not in a way the audience expects. “Yes, it is Krishna's avatar, but in a different way. I mean, you won't know that he is Krishna.” On working with Smriti Irani in TV debut The actor admits he is stepping into the television industry with fresh eyes. “For me, first of all, this is the first serial. And in that too, Hindi television, which has been going on for years. And in that too, the sequel to Kyunki is going on. So, I am more excited that my mother will be very happy seeing me on TV, first of all.” He further added, “To tell you the truth, I am very unaware of what is going to happen on the shoot. I didn't think about what would happen, how it would happen. But once the shoot is done, I will be able to tell you more about what I have learned.” Shruhad is also eager to observe and learn from Smriti Irani, who leads the show. “Smriti Irani has been on television for years. And she has been in politics for years. So, I will definitely learn a lot from her, how she works on her craft, and how she performs every scene. I am very excited to learn that.” Shruhad Goswami talks about his film Laalo Reflecting on Laalo’s extraordinary journey, the actor recalled its humble beginnings. “A film which started off low budget and now it’s chart-bursting everywhere… When we released it, we didn’t have that many screens. On Diwali, the film was sold out. We had only three screens left in Gujarat. There were only three shows… and we didn’t have an audience. And then the miracle happened.” He added, “Gradually, the audience increased. The screens increased. And then the record broke. God has taught us everything… You have to stay the way you are. You don’t have to change. You have to keep your intent clear. Your work should be clear. Your soul should be clear. This is what I have learnt from the whole journey.” Shruhad’s favourite scene from Laalo remains one that beautifully blends innocence with spiritual reflection. “There is a scene where Lalo says that I want to go to my village… and then Laalo asks God, ‘God, don’t you ever want to go to Gokul?’ When God starts becoming vulnerable, Laalo goes to sleep.” Explaining why it stayed with him, he said, “We complain a lot. We talk to God a lot. But when God has to talk to us, we are not ready for that… when God comes to talk to us, we are not ready.” As Shruhad steps into television with a fresh take on Krishna and the legacy of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, his fans can expect a blend of divinity, charm and sincerity, traits that have defined his journey so far.

I want viewers to feel the depth behind his silences, the wisdom in his actions, and the unconditional love he carries for his family and devotees. The team has shown immense faith in me, and I am grateful for their trust. I genuinely look forward to connecting with the audience through Lord Shiva’s journey and values.” Mohit Malik quits playing Lord Shiva Previously, the role was played by Mohit Malik. The actor got candid about the role, “Playing Shiv is a divine responsibility, and the preparation had to come from within. It was very important for me to read about Shiv to understand his teachings, his relationship with his children Ganesh and Kartikey, his role as a husband, and how he guides us to be ideal human beings. I dedicate my one-hour journey to the set every day to deep meditation, which helps me slip into character even before I reach. Preparing for an intense Tandav sequence took me two months, during which I rehearsed 7–8 times in studios. When I finally performed the tandav on set, it turned out beautifully. This was one of the best dance experiences of my life, and I can’t wait for the audience to see it.”

Nirbhay Wadhwa

Nirbhay Wadhwa to play Sindhurasur in Ganesh Kartikey; shares details

Sony SAB’s mythological epic, Gatha Shiv Parivaar Ki – Ganesh Kartikey, continues to immerse audiences in the untold stories of the Shiv Parivaar — Lord Shiv, Goddess Parvati, Lord Ganesh, and Lord Kartikey. With every track, the show expands its spiritual universe, balancing cosmic purpose, emotional journeys, and the battle between dharma and adharma. Nirbhay Wadhwa enters the show as Sindhurasur As Ganesh Kartikey enters a more intense chapter, Nirbhay Wadhwa, known for his impactful roles in mythological dramas, steps in as Sindhurasur, the asur fated to marry Tulsi (Geet Jain) as part of the curse Lord Ganesha once gave her after she cursed him in return. Born unwanted and shaped by a life without love, Sindhurasur grows into a formidable tyrant whose presence instantly brings a darker, more dramatic energy to the story. His character adds emotional depth and weight to the narrative, highlighting the complexities of destiny, resentment, and power. Nirbhay Wadhwa, playing the role of Sindhurasur, said, “When I first read about Sindhurasur, what struck me was how differently his story begins - not with power, but with pain. He isn’t just an asur; he is someone shaped by rejection, by never being wanted. That emotional foundation makes him far more complex than a typical antagonist. I remember shooting my first scene, standing there in heavy armour, and the director whispered, ‘Feel the weight of everything he was denied.’ And suddenly, I understood him. Playing Sindhurasur is not just about fury or strength; it’s about carrying a lifetime of hurt that eventually explodes into terror. This is one of the most layered characters I’ve taken on, and I’m excited for viewers to see how his arrival changes the entire rhythm of the story.” Avinesh Rekhi to replace Mohit Mallik If the reports are to be believed, then Avinesh Rekhi replaces Mohit Mallik as lord Shiv on the show. He shared, "Stepping into the role of Lord Shiva is both an honour and a responsibility. The portrayal carries immense reverence, depth and emotional significance for millions of people and that awareness has guided every step of my preparation."

A still from Laughter Chefs 3

Laughter Chefs 3: Krushna Abhishek reacts to Pawan Singh gracing the show

COLORS’ 'Laughter Chefs Unlimited Entertainment' gets a full-blown cultural tadka the moment Bhojpuri powerhouse Pawan Singh strides into the kitchen, bringing his power star vibe. This is a flavour-forward takeover because this Saturday, Teams Kaanta and Chhurri are rolling up their sleeves for Bihar’s culinary classics, including Gud Thekua and Baingan Chokha. Who better than a bona fide Bhojpuri titan to set the tone? The second Pawan steps in, the kitchen instantly transforms into a full-on festive ground. As soon as his songs play, the kitchen troublemakers break into dance like muscle memory, and his one-liners become the highlights of the episode. Pawan Singh graces the show Not to mention, Pawan steers the mood and redirects chaos. Within minutes, the laughter chefs are auditioning for an impromptu Bhojpuri blockbuster under his guidance. He mentors them through dramatic monologues, over-the-top reactions, and full-filmi flair, all with that trademark teasing swagger only he can get away with. And when the teams circle back to their Bihari dishes, he slips into the kitchen flow like he was always meant to be there — tasting, nudging, joking, and grounding the flavours with an unmistakable sense of home. Krushna Abhishek says, “All of us laughter chefs were very sure that we needed a Bhojpuri expert if we’re going to make Bhojpuri dishes, and that’s when Pawan Ji walked in. Total sone pe suhaaga! His vibe, like his songs, is iconic. He sang, he danced with all of us, he brought that pure Bhojpuri sweetness that lifts the whole room. Then he made us audition for a Bhojpuri film, roasted us, and guided us through the dishes of his state like a total pro. I thoroughly enjoyed testing out my Bhojpuri and he was such a sport, laughing at punchlines and coming up with some of his own. This treat from Bihar is not to be missed.” Kapil Sharma to add an extra dose of drama Apart from Pawan Singh, Kapil Sharma returns to the channel after 11 years of dispute.  Krushna Abhishek, already a riotous constant on the show, instantly senses the brewing storm and decides to stoke it further. He makes his grand entrance dressed as a woman, as a nod to the characters that once made households across India collapse in laughter. The two reignited the mischief and magic that were synonymous with them. What follows is a comedy carnival! Kapil's cooking skills (or the spectacular lack thereof) become prime-time entertainment. Standing right beside him is Krushna, the most distracting, unapologetically hilarious, and deliberately unhelpful “support system” a person could have in a kitchen. He roasts, he interrupts, he breaks into characters - and Kapil turns every derailment into gold, proving why both are the country’s most loved comedy stars.

Kabhi mene apne mom dad ko nahi bola ki isne mere sath bura kiya hai, is darti. (It's like this for me. I want a family, kids, and everything. I am tired of being alone. I can't communicate much with my parents... I've never told my parents that someone mistreated me because I'm terrified.)" Tanya finally put the allegation to rest with a straightforward and strong clarification. "Maine kiss kiya hota na aur if mujhe pyaar hota, toh main duniya se kabhi nahi dari na..." Amaal se pyaar karti hoti toh main bolne main bhi nahi darti; main toh on-screen kiss karke aa jati ki yaar main pyaar karti hu. (If I had kissed him and was in love, I would not be terrified of the world. If I liked Amaal, I would not hesitate to say so. "I would have kissed him on screen and said, 'Yes, I'm in love.')" She concluded by categorically refuting the accusation, noting that because she was not in love, there was no reason for her to kiss anyone's photo, and dismissing Malti's claim as unfounded.
