Sangitanjaly Foundation hosted the 8th Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan National Festival of Music in Hyderabad, celebrating Indian art and autism awareness.

Sangitanjaly Foundation in association with the Department of Language & Culture, Govt of Telangana has organised the 8th season of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan National Festival of Music on Dec 13-14,2025 at Ravindra Bharathi, Hyderabad

The Prestigious, one of its kind festivals was conceived, Curated and produced by Abhijeeth Bhattacharjee and Prodyut Mukherjee.

This Festival is in aid of Children at Autism Ashram and we thank all our Sponsors and Institutions for supporting these social initiatives, towards promoting Indian Classical Music & Dance and espousing the cause of Autism, through all our events, said Abhijeeth

Sangitanjaly Foundation ( a Non-Profit Trust & NGO) is one of the established cultural organisations in India that promotes Indian Art & Dance forms which includes Folk, Light Music, Fusion, Sufi etc and it creates a platform for up and budding talents in this domain, remarked Prodyut Mukherjee, Grammy Jury & GIMA award winner. 

It’s a great honour for us to offer our Shradhanjali and remember Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Saheb who spent his last days in Hyderabad . Ustadji's Mazhar is located in Hyderabad at Dara Mir Momin at Hari Bowli in Charminar, and this Festival was organised in the legend’s memory and honour & also to show our reverence to this great soul, and we visit the legend’s shrine every year to offer our prayers before the commencement of the festival, asserted Abhijeeth Bhattacharjee.

The Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan National Festival of Music and Dance, 8th season was a grand celebration of Indian art and dance forms. On the first day Jagriti Chakraborty's Odissi dance was mesmerizing. She began with a beautiful Mangalacharan and followed it up with a soulful Shri Jagannath Bhajan. Her semi-classical performances on Durga and Shiva were captivating, and she completed the tribute piece in recognition of the 150th anniversary celebration of Vande mataram, that drew thunderous applause.

Lokesh Anand on the Shehnai and Bipul Kumar Ray on the Santoor created a mesmerizing performance that left the audience spellbound. Their Jugalbandhi was a beautiful blend of the two instruments, with the Shehnai's soulful notes perfectly complemented by the Santoor's intricate patterns. The soothing melody was a testament to the skill and artistry of the two musicians, who wove a spell of tranquility over the audience. The performance was a perfect blend.

Vidushi Ivy Banerjee's performance was a tribute to the legendary Begum Akhtar, and she did complete justice to the iconic singer's popular thumris. Her soulful voice brought to life classics like "Ei to hum mein tum mein karar tha" and many others, captivating the audience with the beauty and emotion of the songs. Ivy Banerjee's voice has a unique timbre that is reminiscent of Begum Akhtar's, and her control over the ragas and taans was impressive. The audience was completely entranced by her performance.

The second day, Pt. Partho Bose's performance on sitar was truly captivating. He began with Raag Gawati, starting with a soulful Vilambit, followed by a mesmerizing Madhyalay, and ending with a breathtaking Drut Teental. His Alaap, Jod, and Jhala were perfectly executed, and the Pahadi Dhun was a beautiful conclusion to his performance. The audience was completely entranced by his skillful playing and the beauty of the raag. His music was a perfect blend of tradition and innovation, and it was clear that he is a master of his craft.

Sanjay Chakraborty's Sarod concert was a beautiful blend of Raag Baageshri and Raageshri. The confluence of these two raags created a unique and captivating sound, that left the audience spellbound. His skillful execution of the raags and the way he wove them together was truly mesmerizing. The concert was a testament to his mastery of classical music and his ability to push the boundaries of traditional raags.

Shri Ritesh and Rajnish Mishra's vocal concert was a treat for the ears. The brothers began with a beautiful Bada Khayal in Raag Madhukauns, their voices blending together in perfect harmony. The intricate taans and bol-taans were executed with ease, and the raag was presented in a traditional yet innovative way. The bhajan that followed was soulful and moving, with the brothers' voices conveying the emotions of the song perfectly. The audience was completely entranced by their performance, and it was clear that they are among the leading vocalists of their generation.

The Accompaniment on Harmonium by Ratan Bhattacharjee, Pt.Durjay Bhowmik & Samir Acharya on the tabla were a class apart.

The festival concluded with a celebrity note as Rituparna Sengupta, National Award Winning Actress was honoured with the Sangitanjaly Excellence Award, by Dr. Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary, Govt of Telangana recognising her outstanding contribution to Indian Cinema, Art & Culture across the World. The Hall reverberated with applause at the end and gave a standing ovation to Ms Rituparna Sengupta for her captivating performance.
