In a weekend that redefined Bangalore&rsquo;s cultural fabric, the inaugural edition of Bangalore Art Weekend (4&ndash;6 April 2025) came to a close after three days of immersive engagement, interdisciplinary programming, and city-spanning artistic celebration. Conceived by Svasa Life and Usual Suspects, the initiative presented Bangalore as more than a growing creative capital - it offered a blueprint for how art can thrive through collaboration, community, and cultural stewardship.
With StoneX as Launch Partner, the weekend embraced the theme &ldquo;Yours, Liminally&rdquo;, honouring spaces of transition - between people, ideas, and place.
The weekend opened with an exclusive launch evening on 3 April, presented by StoneX, at 10 Magrath Road - home to a mural by the legendary artist MF Husain. The heritage bungalow was reimagined into a quiet, evocative tribute to Bangalore&rsquo;s layered artistic memory. Curated installations, original sketches by Husain, and atmospheric soundscapes by DJ Dwell created a space where heritage met future-forward vision.
One of the weekend&rsquo;s key highlights was the screening of Mastery: Journey of Excellence, a documentary series produced by StoneX spotlighting India&rsquo;s leading contemporary artists. The first episode, Subodh Kerkar: Boundless Imagination, offered an intimate look into the Goan artist&rsquo;s creative process and practice. Following the film, Kerkar shared insights into his work, materials, and the role of nature and narrative in shaping artistic mastery. The evening also saw the unveiling of the latest volume of Svasa Life, in an intimate gathering of artists, curators, and cultural practitioners.
Reflecting on the collaboration, Sushant Pathak, Chief Marketing Officer at StoneX, called the weekend &ldquo;the kind of thoughtful, future-facing cultural movement we&rsquo;re proud to be part of,&rdquo; adding, &ldquo;At StoneX, we see design, craft, and storytelling as deeply interconnected - and this collaboration allowed us to bring those values to life in a meaningful way. The response has reaffirmed our belief in supporting platforms that celebrate both art and heritage.&rdquo;
Across three days, city venues including MAP, KYNKYNY Art Gallery, Sabha, Gallery Sumukha, Artisera, and Kaash hosted curated showcases by contemporary artists such as Sumit Roy, Raihan R Vadra, Gurdev Singh, and Aviva Baig. Dialogues such as The Space Between: Women, Art, and the Gaps, and a solo session with Aaquib Wani, brought texture and depth to the visual programming.
Installations, live music, and retail interventions by brands like The Summer House, MARGN, and Prxkhxr turned the city into a canvas - inviting collectors, designers, and emerging voices to encounter creativity across forms.
&ldquo;This was more than an art weekend,&rdquo; said Shrey Sethi, Managing Editor at Svasa Life. &ldquo;It was a statement of intention - that Bangalore is ready to take its place as South India&rsquo;s cultural powerhouse.&rdquo;
