Today, we sit down with Imanol to discuss his journey, his work, and his perspective on the evolving landscape of cinema.

Interviewer: Imanol, welcome! It’s a pleasure to have you. Let's start with "Dream Door." The film has resonated strongly here in India, earning recognition at several prestigious film festivals. What was it about this project that drew you in as an editor?

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: Thank you for having me! "Dream Door" was a unique project from the start. Director Rishav Raman created a story with such a powerful emotional core, dealing with themes of memory, loss, and connection. As an editor, I saw the opportunity to shape that emotional arc and amplify its impact. The film's themes are universal, which is why I believe it's resonating so well with audiences in India and elsewhere.

Interviewer: The film was selected for the Sittannavasal International Film Festival, which celebrates films rooted in Indian cultural heritage. Did that influence your approach to the editing process?

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: Absolutely. Knowing that the film would be presented at a festival so deeply connected to Indian art and history gave me a profound sense of responsibility. I wanted to ensure that the editing honored the cultural context while enhancing the film's storytelling. I studied Indian visual art and filmmaking techniques to bring a unique perspective to the editing process.

Interviewer: "Dream Door" also won the 'Best Indian Short Film' award at the Poombukar Independent Film Festival. What do you think made the film stand out to the jury?

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: I believe the jury recognized the authenticity and emotional depth of the story. It is a story about family and love that can be understood universally. Beyond that, Rishav Raman and I wanted to make an impact on the audience that left them thinking about the message in the film.

Interviewer: Your work extends beyond film, including directing live stream concerts and editing digital content. How do these different mediums influence your approach to storytelling?

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: Each medium has its unique language and challenges. Directing live stream concerts taught me how to capture the energy of a live performance, while editing digital content honed my skills in creating engaging and shareable content.

Interviewer: What advice would you give to aspiring filmmakers and editors in India?

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: My advice would be to be persistent in finding the kind of stories that you want to tell. Whether that means writing, directing, or editing, being able to tell the right story is the key to success. Beyond that, it is always important to be connected to other people in the industry as they will be your support to keep moving forward.

Interviewer: What's next for you, Imanol? Are there any projects you're currently working on that you can share with us?

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: I am currently working on a project that mixes different cultures around the world. As a Latino in the film industry, it is important to highlight those voices so that they can be heard.

Interviewer: Imanol, thank you so much for sharing your insights with us. It's been a pleasure.

Imanol Delgado Cadivich: Thank you for the opportunity. It's been a privilege to connect with the Indian film community.
