Following a critically acclaimed premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, Ajit Arora's intense mini-feature, Red Letter, is set to make its digital debut. The film, a suspenseful social thriller that tackles the grave issue of child molestation, will be available exclusively on the ShemarooMe app starting August 9, 2025.
Praised at Cannes for its powerful storytelling and emotional weight, Red Letter defies the conventional short film format. Arora, who took on the triple role of writer, director, and lead actor, crafted the project to feel as expansive as a full-length feature. Filmed entirely on authentic locations in Kashmir, the movie promises a visual feast to complement its gripping narrative.
The plot centers on Abhi, a character portrayed by Arora, who must confront a buried past that continues to cast a dark shadow on society. The film’s message is one of resilience and justice, aiming to shed light on the trauma and silence surrounding child abuse. With a talented supporting cast that includes Krishma Thakur and Javaid Ahmad Khan, the performances are expected to be deeply moving.
Adding to the film's immersive quality is its music, with a soulful track by the legendary Javed Ali and a suspenseful background score by Subir Kumar Das. With a U/A certification, Red Letter is ready to captivate a wide audience and spark a much-needed dialogue when it releases this August 9.
