The heart is like a clock, beating in a steady rhythm to pump blood throughout the body. On the other hand, some people have irregular heartbeats, which can cause fatigue, lightheadedness, or even major health issues. The heart can beat regularly thanks to a pacemaker, a tiny device that helps control the heart's rhythm by providing tiny electrical signals. Conventional pacemakers are attached to the heart by small wires (leads) that are inserted into the blood vessels and the battery is beneath the skin of the chest. Despite their effectiveness, they can occasionally result in pain, infections, or issues because the wires may move and malfunction.

With the advent of leadless pacemakers, surgical pockets and leads are no longer necessary. Unlike traditional pacemakers, they do not require wires or a surgical pocket under the skin. Instead, they are small, capsule-like devices implanted directly inside the heart through a minimally invasive procedure. This means fewer complications, faster recovery, and a more comfortable experience for patients. Leadless pacemakers are also significantly smaller than traditional pacemakers, that is smaller than a AAA battery!
