Prradip Khairwar on His Journey: Lessons from Ram Gopal Varma, Memories of Amitabh Bachchan, and His Own Voice in Cinema.
Prradip Khairwar on set with Amitabh Bachchan
Recently shooting his new web series “Koun Hain” , Film Director Prradip Khairwar, one such defining memory goes back to the sets of Sarkar 3, when as a young Associate Director he worked alongside the legendary Ram Gopal Varma and witnessed the towering presence of Amitabh Bachchan. Today, having established his own voice as a filmmaker with the impactful Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass, Khairwar finds himself revisiting those formative years with a sense of gratitude, awe, and renewed inspiration.
In a recent ABP News podcast, Khairwar opened up about his early days in the industry, recalling the lessons he absorbed while being part of a big creative team on a large-scale project. For him, working under the guidance of Ram Gopal Varma was a masterclass in cinema; one that demanded precision, creativity, and adaptability. But what stood out most in his memory was the presence of Amitabh Bachchan, who played the central role in Sarkar 3.

Speaking with reverence, Khairwar shared, “Amitabh Bachchan is not just a film star - he is an institution. The aura he carried on set was magnetic, and yet he remained so grounded. What amazed me was his meticulousness; he would listen carefully to the director, interact with the team, and understand the smallest details before preparing for a scene. His discipline and humility were as impactful as his performance. Truly, nobody can be Amitabh Bachchan.”
Those early encounters left a lasting impression on Khairwar, shaping his approach to filmmaking in ways that still resonate today. For him, Bachchan’s ability to balance stardom with sincerity became a guiding example of how greatness lies not just in talent, but also in work ethic and humility.
Years later, Khairwar would step into the director’s chair and prove his potential with Aayushmati Geeta Matric Pass, a film that dared to tell a story few had touched before. Inspired by true events, the film explores the rampant corruption within certain rural educational boards, shedding light on scams that have devastated the lives of students. By bringing this raw and pressing issue to the big screen, Khairwar not only highlighted an uncomfortable truth but also gave voice to countless young people whose dreams had been compromised.
The narrative struck a chord with audiences. Its theatrical run was marked by critical recognition and audience appreciation, with many praising the director for handling such a socially relevant subject with sensitivity and gripping cinematic craft. Now, as the film prepares for its release on OTT platforms, it is poised to reach an even wider audience, amplifying its message and reaffirming Khairwar’s position as a filmmaker unafraid of tackling hard-hitting themes.
His journey so far is one of perseverance and passion. From learning the ropes on a Ram Gopal Varma set to witnessing Amitabh Bachchan’s unmatched discipline and artistry, Pradip Khairwar has grown into a filmmaker with conviction and purpose. Committed to telling stories that matter, he continues to draw inspiration from those early memories. “Nobody can be Amitabh Bachchan,” he says with humility, yet with each film, Khairwar is steadily shaping a legacy of his own.
