Singer Samrat Sarkar's career is soaring high, from Hindi Pop song collaboration with Usha Uthup to performing live in 40 countries

Usha Uthup, Samrat Sarkar

The winter party season has officially found its anthem with the release of the latest pop Hindi track, "Chhod Ke Aaya Saara Jahan." The high-energy song, a dynamic collaboration between the legendary Padma Shri Usha Uthup and acclaimed playback singer-composer Samrat Sarkar, is now streaming on all major music platforms.

Blending the infectious beats of Bollywood pop with the earthy soul of Indian folk, the track promises to be a chart-topper. While the song is currently creating waves with its audio release, Sarkar revealed that the collaboration was a result of meticulous planning and a sudden creative pivot.

"I was originally planning to do a song with Asha Bhosle ji," Sarkar explained. "But by the time we finished the composition, I felt that the track demanded a powerful, distinctive voice that only someone like Padmabhushan Usha ji could provide to do it full justice. When we finally reached out to her, she loved the song instantly, and we were on."

A Fusion of Folk and Fantasy

The track is described as having a "basic folk feel," incorporating elements of rich Bengali folk music into a mainstream Hindi format. The concept, developed by Sarkar and Sajal Kumar, revolves around a common, labor-class boy who fantasizes about winning over a pretty woman, imagining himself with the swagger of a Bollywood superstar like Salman Khan.

The production process was rigorous, with the team rewriting and re-producing the track multiple times to achieve perfection. The lyrics reflect this unique fusion, with Bengali folk lines penned by Sajal Kumar and Hindi verses by Vikas Dubey. Sarkar credits his teammate Joy for working tirelessly on the final sound design to ensure the track sets the perfect mood for the party season.

From Kolkata to Cannes: A Musical Journey

For Samrat Sarkar, this release marks another milestone in a distinguished career that spans 14 years in Mumbai. Originally from Kolkata, Sarkar has previously delivered the smash hit Bengali song "Majhire Majhi" and has sung for over 20 Bollywood films and numerous web series. His track "Mera Sona Bachpan" from the film Lines received acclaim at the Cannes Film Festival.

Sarkar is no stranger to the global stage, having traveled to nearly 40 countries for concerts with his band, 'Sammrat Ka Saagar.' He notably performed the opening act for rock legend Bryan Adams at Palace Grounds, Bangalore. Despite his global footprint, he maintains a strong connection to his roots, frequently returning to Kolkata for live shows.

The Strategy: Music First, Video Later

Interestingly, the duo has decided to hold off on an immediate official music video release. Sarkar stated, "I am not in a hurry for the music video. I want the mass youth to make their own versions of this song first." He confirmed that an official video featuring himself and Usha Uthup is in the pipeline, but the focus remains on organic growth through user-generated content.

The song has already proven its potential as a crowd-pleaser. Sarkar recently performed "Chhod Ke Aaya Saara Jahan" live for the first time at the 'Malad Masti' festival in Mumbai, witnessing a rapturous response from a crowd of 5,000 people.

"It was a small wish which has turned big after The Legend rendered her voice with me," Sarkar reflected. "I hope this becomes another legendary hit like 'Ramba Ho' for Usha ji."

Following the positive reception, Sarkar is already working on merging similar Bengali folk elements with Bollywood sounds for future projects.

"Chhod Ke Aaya Saara Jahan" is out now on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, and other leading streaming services.
