A short video of a city can be technically flawless and still tell us very little about it. Mumbai has no shortage of striking images, from crowded station platforms to sea-facing streets at dusk. What makes a video memorable is often something less obvious: a familiar phrase, the sound of a shop opening for the day or a detail its creator knew to wait for.

For independent creators, capturing those moments is only part of the work. They also have to shape footage into a story, record narration, add captions and make the result work on a small screen. New video tools can help with parts of that process, but the most useful question is not how much content they can produce. It is whether they give creators more room to show what they notice about the city.
