Andhra-origin coaching duo Vincent Vinay Kumar Dasari and Prajith Mudi drive record-setting run

The United States Under-19 cricket team completed its most successful campaign to date at the ICC Men’s Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026, registering multiple first-time and record-setting achievements under the leadership of head coach Vincent Vinay Kumar Dasari and assistant coach Prajith Mudi, both of whom trace their cricketing roots to Andhra Pradesh.
The tournament, held from January 8 to February 8, 2026 across Zimbabwe and Namibia, marked a defining moment in USA Cricket’s youth pathway, with the team recording milestones that had not previously been achieved in Under-19 World Cup competition.
Under the guidance of Dasari and Mudi, the USA U-19 side:
- Earned its first-ever pointsin an ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup, following earlier appearances in which no points were recorded;
- Secured its first-ever match victoryat an Under-19 World Cup;
- Posted the highest team totalever achieved by the United States Under-19 team in World Cup competition;
- Produced the first individual centuryin United States Under-19 World Cup history;
- Established multiple all-time United States Under-19 partnership recordswithin a single World Cup tournament.
All performances and statistical milestones from the campaign are reflected in the official match records and scorecards from the tournament.
The World Cup results were the culmination of a structured, long-term preparation process implemented by the national coaching group. The team’s build-up included a high-performance preparatory camp in South Africa, competitive exposure during a Caribbean tour in St Kitts, qualification through the ICC Americas Under-19 pathway, and official ICC warm-up matches against Zimbabwe and Pakistan ahead of the main tournament.
The campaign also highlighted a long-standing professional connection between the two coaches. Prajith Mudi previously played under Vincent Vinay Kumar Dasari during his tenure as coach of the Andhra Under-22 side, before transitioning into coaching himself. Their reunion within the USA Cricket setup brought continuity in coaching philosophy, particularly in player development, preparation, and match-day decision-making.
As part of the national team coaching staff, Prajith Mudi played a key role alongside head coach Vincent Vinay Kumar Dasari in match preparation, performance analysis, tactical planning, and player development throughout the World Cup. The coaching unit emphasized data-driven preparation, adaptability to conditions, and execution under pressure - factors that translated into measurable on-field outcomes during the tournament.
