In a significant development aligning with India&rsquo;s focus on national security and youth empowerment, Wing Commander Pushkal Vijay Dwivedi (Retd.), Director General of Bhartiya Shiksha Anusandhan Parishad (BSAP) and Chief of Kalki Sena, met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh at the Minister&rsquo;s official residence in New Delhi on Saturday.
Commitment of Kalki Sena
During the meeting, Wing Commander Pushkal Dwivedi submitted a formal letter of assurance to the Defence Minister, expressing Kalki Sena&rsquo;s unwavering support and offer of voluntary, unconditional service to the Indian Armed Forces, paramilitary, and police forces. &ldquo;The moment the Government of India calls, our Kalki warriors will be ready to serve-without conditions, without delay,&rdquo; the letter stated.
Briefing on &lsquo;Self-Defence Science&rsquo;
He also briefed the Honourable Defence Minister on the landmark educational initiative-&lsquo;Self-Defence Science&rsquo; (आत्मरक्षा विज्ञान), a newly introduced subject under the Bhartiya Shiksha Board (BSB). As the main architect of the subject, he explained its scope, content, and national relevance, highlighting how it empowers schoolchildren with life-saving skills and instills patriotism from a young age.
Syllabus Overview
The syllabus of self-defence science spans from Class 1 to Class 12 and is divided into progressively advanced modules. In primary classes, students are taught basic safety awareness, good-touch bad-touch, voice assertion, and situational responses. In middle school, the curriculum expands to include physical fitness drills, mental alertness, yoga, nutrition for defence, and moral values for resilience. Senior classes are introduced to advanced techniques called &lsquo;RashtrRaksha Vigyan&rsquo; including strategic thinking, emergency first aid, organisation of MoD/Armed Forces, latest advances in defence technology, understanding threats (digital, physical, psychological), legal awareness, civil defence, and civilian coordination during national emergencies. The curriculum is activity-based, child-centric, and rooted in Indian cultural and strategic ethos.
Appreciation by Defence Minister
Impressed with the effort, Shri Rajnath Singh lauded the educational initiative, calling it &ldquo;a long overdue inclusion in our national curriculum.&rdquo; He remarked, &ldquo;This subject will not only prepare our youth to be physically and mentally resilient, but also shape them into patriotic, responsible, and powerful citizens.&rdquo;
Discussion on Defence and Veterans
Wing Commander Dwivedi also discussed several pertinent issues concerning India&rsquo;s evolving defence strategy and veteran welfare. He emphasised the need for deeper integration of retired defence personnel in policy implementation and national preparedness. The dialogue touched upon resource optimisation, reserve force training, and ways to institutionalise the rich experience of veterans for national resilience and youth mentoring.

This meeting marks a pivotal step in merging patriotic civic engagement with formal education, and reinforces the role of retired defence personnel in shaping India&rsquo;s security-conscious future.
