Philosopher and author Acharya Prashant was awarded the title of Most Impactful Environmentalist at the World Environment Conference 2025, held in Greater Noida on the occasion of World Environment Day.
The award, presented by the Green Society of India, recognised his distinctive approach to environmental action-one that combines spiritual clarity with urgent ecological responsibility. The organisers noted his role in inspiring individuals to not only act, but to think deeply about the roots of the crisis.
Addressing the audience, Acharya Prashant said, “The glaciers are melting because our minds are burning with greed,” drawing attention to the psychological dimension of the climate emergency. He emphasised that the crisis cannot be fully understood-or solved-by looking only at external systems. He pointed out that the crisis really begins with the human mind, not with the atmosphere.
In his address to the audience, he introduced Operation 2030, which is aimed at being a global initiative focused on developing a real understanding of the roots of the climate crisis. Most current campaigns on climate change remain confined to technology solutions or regulatory changes. Conversely, Operation 2030 invites individuals to honestly examine their choices, desires, and borrowed ideas of success.
Operation 2030 is aimed towards developing a deep understanding of how the cycle of human restlessness, followed by endless consumption in the hope of mitigating that restlessness, has led to the current climatic catastrophe. The effort aims to create a generation of individuals who are not only informed, but also inwardly clear and courageous enough to lead meaningful change.
Acharya Prashant also pointed to the lack of serious conversation around the root causes of the crisis. While emissions continue to rise, he said, public discourse remains shallow. He stressed the importance of questioning what we have normalised.
Founder of the PrashantAdvait Foundation and author of over 160 books, Acharya Prashant has consistently linked personal transformation with social and environmental responsibility. Through Operation 2030, he continues to call for not just action-but awakening.
