Ashish Lal&rsquo;s journey into acting has not followed the usual industry route. An engineer from the IIT Delhi, he could have chosen a more predictable professional path, but cinema and performance gradually became the stronger calling. Over the years, he has built his work across acting and filmmaking while building RedAsh Films as one of the most reputed production houses and ad agencies in the country.

His upcoming Hindi web series has recently been shot and is currently under post-production. In the series, Ashish plays the lead role and shares screen space with a strong ensemble cast which has Surbhi Jyoti as the female lead and Upendra Limaye as the main villain. What makes this project really special is that it is the first ever web series on podcasting. The project is still under wraps, but its casting has already made it an interesting one, especially because it brings together actors from television, cinema and the streaming space.
Ashish has earlier played lead roles in the television series Chalo Saaf Karein, the film With Love, Delhi!, among others. Through these projects, he had the privilege of working with several respected names from the industry, including Late Padma Shri Tom Alter, National Award winner Seema Biswas, Kiran Kumar, Rashami Desai, Rakesh Bedi, Aruna Irani, Raghuvir Yadav, Anita Raj and Himani Shivpuri, among others. In his new series too, he continues this journey by working with a cast of talented and renowned actors.
Surbhi Jyoti, who plays a key role in the series, has led popular projects such as the web series Gunaah and the television series Naagin 3. Upendra Limaye, known for his impactful performances in Animal and Madgaon Express, is also part of the cast. The ensemble further includes Zakir Hussain, remembered for his work in Sarkar and Johnny Gaddaar; Vidya Malavade, known for Chak De India and Mismatched; Durgesh Kumar, who has stood out in Panchayat and Laapataa Ladies; and Navni Parihar, known for Ghatak and Tanu Weds Manu.

For Ashish, the project marks another step in his mainstream acting journey. What makes his story different is that he does not come from a conventional film background. His early training was in science and engineering, but his long-term pull has been towards art, specifically acting and filmmaking. That mix of discipline, structure and creative hunger has also shaped his work as the founder of RedAsh Films.
Apart from this series, Ashish plays lead roles in a feature film and another web series that will go into production soon. The feature film is planned as a romantic drama based on a never-seen-before subject, while the web series is inspired by a Mithila folk tale. Both projects indicate the kind of space he is trying to build for himself as an actor: rooted, original and performance-driven.
With the new series now in post-production, Ashish Lal&rsquo;s actor journey appears to be entering a more decisive phase. From IIT Delhi to the film set, his path has been unusual, but it is this unusualness that gives his story its own identity. For an engineer who chose acting not as a passing interest but as a serious pursuit, the near future could mark an important turn.
