Since joining KlearNow in August 2022 as a Software Engineer III in the Engineering Growth team within the R&D division, Sachin Padhye has significantly influenced both the technical foundation and business outcomes of the company’s platform. "When I started, I noticed developers lacked a local environment for testing. This was creating delays, unnecessary production logging, and slower customer support," he explained. To address this, he designed and documented a local development setup now adopted by all engineers, reducing development time by over 25% and cutting cloud logging costs, while directly improving customer response times. These improvements translate into faster support and feature delivery for U.S.-based logistics firms and customs brokers.


Tasked with building Partner Government Agency (PGA) forms such as the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) Seafood Import Monitoring Program (SIM), he introduced an automation-friendly Excel template system. By allowing stakeholders to define form elements in Excel and automatically generate rendering logic, he halved the development time typically spent manually mapping PGA data structures, an effort that refined workflows across engineering and business teams. This is particularly impactful for U.S. regulatory compliance, making it easier for American importers to meet federal requirements efficiently.

Another major milestone was improving application performance for customs brokers filing high-volume entries. With the system previously struggling under the weight of up to 99 lines, he traced inefficiencies to excessive gRPC calls. He re-architected the API layer using a new principle “ONE API, one gRPC call per service” leading to performance gains as high as 800% for some endpoints and consistent 2X improvements across the board. This not only elevated customer satisfaction but also stabilized critical workflows. Such high-volume customs filings are common in the U.S., and his improvements have helped enhance the throughput and reliability of filings into CBP systems.

Padhye also engineered a foundational EDI-to-JSON and JSON-to-EDI transformation framework, essential for communications with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). His modular design separates business logic from core code, promoting maintainability, ease of extension, and independence between tech and business teams. This advancement has materially improved the platform’s ability to serve U.S. customs brokers and ensure seamless data exchange with CBP, which is critical for maintaining trade compliance and national security.

In 2023, during KlearNow’s transition to a SaaS model, Padhye proposed a scalable routing solution using context-root-based API gateway mapping. Instead of relying on fragile request parsing to determine data store selection, his approach allowed API calls from different applications to be directed via unique context roots, such as /app-a/ and /app-b/, saving development time by 20% and enabling clean reuse of existing business logic with minimal disruption. This architectural efficiency enables faster deployment cycles and better service delivery for U.S.-based clients managing diverse logistics operations.

Further, as KlearNow prepared for customer-dedicated application servers in 2024, Padhye introduced dual routing frameworks for Kafka and gRPC communications. His Kafka model uses URL-tagged consumers and dynamic partition creation to manage message routing, while the gRPC solution relies on a client factory that maps customer URLs to service endpoints. These systems now underpin KlearNow’s flagship deployment model. He also laid out release branching strategies later adopted by the DevOps team, enabling smoother and isolated rollouts for individual clients. These efforts ensure scalable and secure infrastructure for U.S. customers demanding personalized solutions across highly regulated and mission-critical environments.

One of his most recent innovations involved developing a dynamic algorithm for merging shipments into unified transactions. By enabling real-time, attribute-based grouping without additional coding, the tool offers users powerful flexibility in managing logistics at scale. The solution supports user-defined grouping criteria, pagination, filtering, and sorting, all configurable on any shipment attribute, thus ensuring scalability and usability for future needs. Given the scale and complexity of U.S. import logistics, this tool contributes directly to increased agility and customization, especially for large American freight forwarders and third-party logistics providers.
