At 33, Kirsten Varela stepped onto the world stage for the first time as a competitive calisthenics athlete, representing India and Elysium Calisthenics Park at the World Street Workout and Calisthenics Federation (WSWCF) World Championship in Riga, Latvia.

The championship brought together more than 200 athletes from 52 countries, competing across three disciplines - freestyle, endurance and power.
