Pure Street Photography Awards 2025 exhibition at Jehangir Art Gallery attracted 25,000+ visitors.
Pure Street Photography Awards
In a defining moment for Indian photography and global visual culture, the Pure Street Photography Awards 2025 Exhibition, hosted at the iconic Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai, welcomed over 25,000 visitors across six days, becoming India’s first dedicated street photography exhibition.
Held from 22 to 27 January 2026, the exhibition presented 147 award-winning and finalist photographs from 33 countries, offering a deeply human and emotionally resonant exploration of everyday life, spontaneity, timing, and visual storytelling. Thousands of visitors engaged with the exhibition, sparking conversations, reflection, and emotional connection across diverse audiences, including photographers, artists, students, collectors, curators, and cultural leaders.
Curated and presented by Pure Street Photography® (PSP), the exhibition reflected the platform’s long-standing commitment to thoughtful curation, artistic integrity, and human connection.
Founded in 2020 by photographers Dimpy Bhalotia and Kamal Kumaar Rao, Pure Street Photography has grown into a globally recognised cultural ecosystem representing photographers from over 39 countries.
What began as a small curatorial initiative has evolved into a global movement dedicated to elevating street photography through meaningful visibility, professional development, awards, grants, exhibitions, and international showcases. Under the leadership of Dimpy and Kamal, PSP has consistently championed authenticity, emotional depth, and visual honesty, building a platform rooted in respect, inclusion, and artistic excellence.

The overwhelming response at Jehangir Art Gallery marked a historic cultural shift, demonstrating a growing public appetite for photography exhibitions that prioritise human stories over spectacle, and truth over trends. Throughout the six days, visitors spent extended time engaging deeply with each photograph, many describing the exhibition as powerful, moving, and unforgettable.
In an era shaped by speed, automation, and artificial intelligence, the Pure Street Photography Awards 2025 Exhibition stood as a global reminder of the enduring power of the human eye, instinct, and emotion.
Notably, the exhibition was presented without sponsors, commercial partners, workshops, or staged programming, remaining devoted entirely to the photographs and the stories they carried. This pure curatorial approach reaffirmed photography as a deeply personal and cultural art form.
This landmark exhibition not only positioned India at the forefront of contemporary street photography but also established a new global benchmark for independent photography exhibitions.
Building on this historic momentum, Pure Street Photography has announced the Open Call for the Pure Street Photography Awards 2026, with the winning and finalist works set to be exhibited in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India.
Following the unprecedented response to the Mumbai exhibition, the 2026 edition expands PSP’s global vision, inviting photographers from across the world to participate in a cultural movement rooted in honesty, visual storytelling, and human connection. The upcoming Jaipur exhibition aims to create another landmark moment, uniting international voices within one of India’s most culturally rich and artistically vibrant cities.
