Cardano’s latest move into Latin America shows the project is still expanding globally. On April 15 the Cardano Foundation announced a major partnership with the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-Rio) one of Brazil’s research institutions. The partnership will focus on practical blockchain applications in energy and sustainability - tracking energy output and optimising digital workflows through decentralised technology.

PUC-Rio’s Ledger Labs will work closely with the Cardano Foundation on multiple initiatives especially in DeFi, DAOs and blockchain economics. This is a big step forward for Cardano which has always prioritised academic partnerships and long term development. While the price of ADA is still flat compared to the highs, these updates have kept Cardano in the tier of Layer 1 blockchains.
