Simply Sport Foundation (SSF) and Capri Sports, in partnership with UP Warriorz, unveiled the ‘Play Without Pause’ Report on the occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day. This is a first-of-its-kind menstrual health literacy program measuring the impact of menstrual health literacy among 1,205 participants (1145 athletes and 56 coaches) across Uttar Pradesh.

  • 78.8% of athletes showed improved menstrual health knowledge post-workshop
  • 91% of participants reported feeling more confident managing their periods
  • Missed training days due to menstruation dropped from 40% to 23%
  • The report tracks the impact of menstrual health literacy among 1,205 participants (1145 athletes and 56 coaches)

Over six months, SSF, under Capri’s sports development fund, conducted 26 menstrual health workshops, reaching 1,145 athletes and 56 coaches across 12 districts, including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Ayodhya, Bhadohi, Kushinagar, Deoria, Aligarh, Agra, Ghaziabad, and Noida. Additionally, the intervention also included the distribution of 50,000 pads and the installation of 6 pad vending machines in Lucknow and Ayodhya centres for athletes. The program is unique in its use of rigorous data tools-pre/post surveys, focus groups, period tracking diaries, and coach interviews-to capture measurable behavioural change around menstruation and sports performance.
