If you have ever tried looking for a psychiatrist in Gurgaon, you already know the drill: endless clinic directories, dozens of generic doctor profiles, and almost no real context on who actually fits your needs.
Finding the right person feels exhausting when you are already dealing with a mental health condition. To cut through the noise, here is a grounded look at six established psychiatrists practising in Gurgaon, along with the practical filters you should use before booking a consultation with one.

What Actually Matters Before You Book

Forget flashy clinic websites. When you vet a psychiatrist, keep these practical checkpoints in mind:

Verified credentials: Look for an MD or DNB in Psychiatry, along with active registration with a State Medical Council (such as Haryana or Delhi).

More than just a prescription pad: The best doctors treat medication as one piece of the puzzle. If a doctor rushes you out the door with a prescription in three minutes without discussing therapy or lifestyle factors, look elsewhere.

Relevant speciality: A clinician who spends most of their week treating substance use might not be the best first call for panic attacks or adult ADHD, and vice versa. Find someone who handles your specific struggle every day.

Coordination with psychologists: If your treatment plan includes therapy alongside medication, having psychologists and psychiatrists working under the same roof saves you from hopping clinic to clinic.

Second opinion from a senior: In some clinics, senior clinicians review case plans periodically. Having experienced clinical oversight means fewer blind spots.

Dr. Nikhil Goel
Dr. Goel holds an MBBS and an MD in Psychiatry, bringing over a decade of clinical experience to his practice in Gurgaon. What stands out most about his style is collaboration. Instead of talking down to you or labelling you, he helps you understand your condition and works with you to create a treatment plan. If you feel nervous about your first visit and want someone who actually takes the time to listen, he is an easy recommendation.
Dr. Siddharth Sethi
Dr. Sethi practises at the BetterPlace Health clinic in Gurgaon, Golf Course Road. He has an MD in psychiatry with over seven years in the field, focusing heavily on common, day-to-day challenges like persistent anxiety, burnout, and mood issues. His approach works especially well if you prefer clarity, structure, and direct milestones over open-ended, vague discussions.
Dr. Jateen Ukrani
With an MBBS from Manipal and a DNB from VIMHANS, Dr. Ukrani brings more than ten years of experience, including previous stints at IHBAS and dedicated juvenile de-addiction facilities. If you are dealing with substance dependence, habit cessation, or behavioural issues in teens and young adults, his background hits the mark directly.
Dr. Shambhavi Jaiman
Dr. Jaiman holds an MD in Psychiatry and is registered across both Delhi and Haryana medical councils. She practises at the BetterPlace Health clinic in Gurgaon, Golf Course Road/. She has over seven years of practice and has built a solid reputation working with both teens and adults on depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, and ADHD. She treats psychiatric care as a team effort between the doctor, the therapist, and you, looking at how your daily life and environment impact your mental health.
Dr. Rahul Chandhok
If you prefer a doctor backed by decades of top-tier hospital experience, Dr. Chandhok fits the bill. He heads psychiatry at a major hospital in Gurgaon and brings over twenty years of practice, including a background at AIIMS and Safdarjung Hospital. His practice covers everything from severe mood disorders to chronic conditions like schizophrenia.
Dr. Sunil Mittal
Dr. Mittal brings over four decades of accumulated psychiatric practice. He is the founder of CIMBS, a chain of mental health hospitals in Delhi and currently heads the clinical governance for BetterPlace Health, a mental health clinic in Gurgaon. He focuses heavily on peer review and senior oversight. If you have a complex history, an unclear diagnosis, or previous treatments that did not work, having someone with this level of diagnostic depth involved in your plan is a major asset.

Making the Final Decision

Once you have narrowed down your list, trust your gut during the first meeting.
Ask questions early. Clarify why they are recommending a specific medicine, what side effects to expect, and whether therapy should run parallel to it. Check practical details, too: can you realistically travel to their clinic for regular follow-ups, or do they offer reliable online consults if your schedule falls apart?
Most importantly, pay attention to how you feel in the room. You need to be completely honest with this person about your habits, thoughts, and daily life. If a doctor makes you feel judged, rushed, or dismissed, move on. Gurgaon has plenty of capable clinicians, and finding the right fit is worth the extra step.
