Vineet Singh Hukmani achieves No.1 on global blues charts with Delta Blues Revival and Tricked Me Again.
Vineet Singh Hukmani
Congratulations on this historic achievement. Please elaborate?
Vineet : Thank you. I’ve been fortunate to become the first artist from India to reach the No. 1 position on both the Acoustic Blues Album and Acoustic Blues Song global radio airplay charts compiled by the Roots Music Report in the United States.
For readers who may not know, how significant are the Roots Music Report charts?
Vineet : Roots Music Report is one of the world’s leading independent radio airplay charts. It tracks roots-based music across thousands of radio stations in the USA, Canada, Europe and other parts of the world. So reaching the top of both charts is meaningful global recognition for any musician anywhere in the world.
Which of your releases achieved these No. 1 positions?
Vineet : According to the Roots Music Report for the week ending January 31, 2026, my album 'Delta Blues Revival' reached No. 1 on the Acoustic Blues Album chart, while the single 'Tricked Me Again', both featuring the Ruffus Cotton Band, topped the Acoustic Blues Song chart.
What did Roots Music Report have to say about your achievement?
Vineet : Roots Music Report Founder and CEO Shane Bartosh certified the milestone and said it was exciting to recognize the first artist from India to reach No. 1 on both the Acoustic Blues Album and Singles charts in 2026. He also noted that authentic music resonates regardless of where an artist comes from, and that the blues community is richer because of this cross-cultural achievement.
The album was also recorded in a very traditional way. Why did you choose that approach?
Vineet : We recorded the entire album in analog format using 8 track reels. That process added warmth and authenticity to the sound, which is very much in line with the spirit of the Delta blues.
The album has also received significant attention from Living Blues magazine. What was their response?
Vineet : Living Blues Magazine, founded in 1970 and considered one of the world’s foremost blues publications, reviewed the album in its March 2026 issue. Renowned music journalist Bill Kop noted that the album captures the authentic musical flavor of the Mississippi Delta and said nothing in the music suggests it was made by an artist from outside the United States - calling it one of the most unexpected releases in recent times.
How do you personally feel about the global blues community embracing your music?
Vineet : 2026 has begun beautifully for me by God’s grace. I’m deeply grateful for the acceptance of the sonic purity of this blues album by the global blues community. Such recognition means a great deal to me.
What else can fans expect from you in the near future?
Vineet : After the blues album, I’ve released licensed re-imagined versions of legendary songs by Michael Jackson, with my Indian version of 'Billie Jean' already reaching No. 1 on the European Top 500 charts. I’m also working on jazz or world fusion re-interpretations of classic songs from the 1980s by artists such as Def Leppard, Scorpions, Eagles, Duran Duran, The Doors, Bon Jovi, George Michael, Whitney Houston and Phil Collins. That era of music felt very human to me and so the heartfelt tribute.
