Ajit Pawar plane crash LIVE: Storyexpress Storytelling Festival to go ahead as scheduled on Thursday

The seventh edition of the Storyexpress Storytelling Festival will be held on Thursday at the BDL Museum and the Veermata Jijabai Bhosale Udyan and Zoo (VJBU), Byculla, in Mumbai from 9.30 am to 2 pm. The by-invitation-only festival is organised exclusively for underprivileged children from NGOs and municipal schools. It aims to promote reading, writing and listening skills through storytelling presented in various creative forms such as dance, read-aloud sessions, art, poetry, museum walks and film screenings. Addressing concerns amid the ongoing period of mourning in the state, an official associated with the festival said the programme would go ahead as planned. “This is not an event or a celebration. This is a learning experience. It has already been planned and school children are expected to come tomorrow. We checked with the BMC authorities and will proceed with the learning activity,” the official said. This year’s edition will feature several well-known writers and artistes from across the city, including authors Gauri Sinh, Lavanya Karthik, Nalini Ramachandran, Pooja Deepak Patel and Yashasvi Vachhani, along with storyteller Hamir Kaur Sahni, Neeraj Chandra and filmmaker Chetan Sharma. Artistes Devangi Tevani, Maithili Sakhrani and Rishita Chandra, along with members of the BDL Museum, will conduct storytelling sessions and creative workshops for children and teachers. The festival will conclude with film screenings curated for children.
