Maharashtra: Heavy rain in Mahabaleshwar hill town, Koyna dam level rising
Heavy rains lashed parts of popular hill station Mahabaleshwar and neighbouring areas of western Maharashtra and the Konkan region over the last 24 hours, as a result of which the water level of the Koyna dam was going up, officials said on Tuesday.

Heavy rains lashed parts of popular hill station Mahabaleshwar and neighbouring areas of western Maharashtra and the Konkan region over the last 24 hours, as a result of which the water level of the Koyna dam was going up, officials said on Tuesday.

The IMD on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall alert for Konkan belt and Madhya Maharashtra over the next five days. "For the next five days Konkan belt and Madhya Maharashtra will receive heavy rainfall to very heavy rainfall," said Jayanta Sarkar, head Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Mumbai.

The IMD on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall alert for Konkan belt and Madhya Maharashtra over the next five days. "For the next five days Konkan belt and Madhya Maharashtra will receive heavy rainfall to very heavy rainfall," said Jayanta Sarkar, head Regional Meteorological Center (RMC) Mumbai.

NIA takes custody of all accused in Amravati chemist's murder
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over custody of all the seven accused in the murder of Amravati-based chemist Umesh Kolhe, a police official said on Tuesday. The NIA took custody of all the accused, who were granted four days' transit remand on Monday after they were produced before the Amravati court, he said.

As per Kandivli police, which is probing why the teenage girl and their 60-year-old driver murdered her mother and stepsister and then took their own lives, the accused in the four-page suicide note mentioned that they committed the crime as her mother had an affair with another man for over two years and that the man had threatened the teen, her father and younger brother. The driver also alleged that the mother had allegedly sold the teen girl to the man for Rs 2 lakh.&nbsp;

Mumbai: Drastic dip in new Covid-19 cases; two deaths
There has been a tremendous drop in fresh Covid-19 cases in the city. On Monday, 431 new cases were reported out of 9,052 samples tested. The testing was on the lower side owing to it being a Sunday. Still, the positivity rate dropped to 5 per cent, which is a good indication as per BMC officials. Two people lost their lives due to infection. On Monday, out of 431 fresh cases, 54 patients needed hospitalisation and 11 of them have been put on oxygen support. The total COVID tally in the city now stands at 1,115,473.&nbsp;
