The incident took place at Global Square Mall on Monday afternoon, when the victim was fixing a steel grill on the first floor and he slipped and fell, an official said. A team of policemen was attacked and injured when they went to resolve a dispute between a couple in Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place in Kalyan town on Sunday night, when beat marshals were informed that a man was beating up his wife in Kolsewadi, inspector S G Gavali of Kolsewadi police station said. On seeing the policemen, the man got agitated and attacked them and even bit one of the cops. The man was finally pinned down and placed under arrest, he said. (PTI)

Vikas Walkar, the father of Shraddha Walkar who was allegedly killed by her live-in partner Aaftab Amin Poonawala, on Tuesday demanded the latter's parents be questioned in connection with his daughter's murder. If the involvement Poonawala's parents is found in the case, then action should be taken against them, Vikas Walkar told PTI over phone. The department-wise centres will scan letters and send them to the authorities concerned online for speedy decisions, which in turn will help the state's functioning to move towards a paperless system, she said. A police team was attacked in Jogeshwari in Mumbai by an accused in an NDPS case, his mother and seven others, an official said on Monday. The incident took place on Friday night in Prem Nagar area of Jogeshwari East, leaving a sub inspector and two constables injured, he said. "The police team were chasing the accused involved in an NDPS Act case registered with the Azad Maidan unit of Anti Narcotics Cell on April 7. They were attacked by the accused, his mother and seven others, including four women," he said. An FIR has been registered in connection with the incident, he added. (PTI)

The NCP lost its state party status in Goa, Manipur and Meghalaya, as per the EC order. Election Commission officials said parties can regain their national and state party status based on their performance in future electoral cycles as also the Lok Sabha elections due next year. Speaking to a regional news channel, NCP Lok Sabha member Sunil Tatkare said, "The party is waiting to receive the order from the Election Commission of India on this.
