Seventeen children in the 8-13 age group from Maharashtra`s Raigad district made to work as bonded labourers in Beed in the state`s Marathwada region have been rescued, following which nine persons were arrested on Saturday, officials said. The children, including several girls, were forced to do laborious tasks like cattle grazing, cleaning of cattle shed, washing vessels at home, and cooking, reported PTI.

Amid reports in a section of media that NCP (SP) Maharashtra unit chief Jayant Patil has resigned from the post, the party on Saturday denied it saying it was nothing but mischief, reported PTI. Patil has been the state president of the undivided Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) since 2018. After the party split in July 2023 following the rebellion by Ajit Pawar and other MLAs, Patil continued to occupy the same post in the Sharad Pawar-led faction of the party - NCP (SP).

Mumbai News LIVE Updates: Maharashtra reports four new Covid-19 cases, active caseload at 47
Maharashtra reported four new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, all from Mumbai, bringing the total number of confirmed infections in the state since January 2025 to 2,624, according to data released by the Public Health Department. As of Saturday, 2,536 patients have recovered, placing the recovery rate at 96.49 per cent. The number of active cases currently stands at 47, and all patients are said to be exhibiting only mild symptoms.
