Following the Union Ministry of Home Affairs' directives, a emergency drill named "Operation Abhyas" is being conducted to evaluate emergency preparedness

The exercise aims to test emergency response, inter-agency coordination, and citizen preparedness in the event of a wartime or terror scenario

The drills are a part of broader national efforts to ensure cities are equipped to respond effectively in emergencies, including wartime threats

The MHA communication stated that the measures that be taken during the security drills shall include the operationalisation of air-raid warning sirens, training civilians on civil-defence aspects to protect themselves in the event of a "hostile attack" and cleaning bunkers and trenches

The move comes in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack  and amid heightened concerns over potential hostile situations
