IN PHOTOS: EC sets up 'pink booth' at one of Mumbai's oldest art institutes

On the eve of the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, the Election Commission set up a 'pink booth' at Sir JJ School of Art in Fort, Mumbai, on Tuesday. The pink polling booth is entirely managed by women officials. The idea behind setting up these booths is to create a conducive and encouraging atmosphere for women voters (PICS/SHADAB KHAN)

Women-centric issues have been the focus of all political parties. The ruling Mahayuti alliance introduced a flagship scheme, 'Ladki Bahin Yojana', under which women from economically weaker backgrounds receive Rs 1,500 every month. The Opposition, Maha Vikas Aghadi, has promised to increase this amount and has also criticised the government for its handling of crimes against women in the state
