Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had directed that idols will be handed over at the collection points planned at the beached and the immersion centers. Pic/Shadab Khan

As per the guidelines issued by the government, mandals cannot choose to have idols which are more than four feet tall. Similarly, domestic idols will have to be only two feet in height. Pic/Shadab Khan

In its guidelines, the BMC has restricted the number of persons to just 10 for Ganpati mandals for visarjan or immersion and to just five persons for household Ganpatis. Pic/Shadab Khan

The civic body had also appealed to citizens to immerse idols in artificial ponds. Pic/Soorya Karkera

The BMC had asked citizens to worship Ganpati idols preferably made of clay or, if possible, metal or marble idols in the house instead of the traditional clay idols. Pic/Shadan Khan

As per the guidelines, at the time of immersion of domestic Ganpati, there should be no processions. If at all there is a procession, there should be a maximum of 5 persons for immersion. Pic/Shadab Khan
