The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported that the city received 91 mm of rainfall over 24 hours ending at 8 am on Saturday. Eastern and western suburbs recorded 87 mm and 93 mm of rainfall respectively.
The IMD has predicted moderate to heavy rainfall for Mumbai. Additionally, a high tide of 4.24 metres is expected at 11.28 am, followed by another high tide of 3.66 metres at 11.18 pm. These conditions could potentially exacerbate waterlogging in the city.
Heavy rainfall resulted in waterlogging at various locations in Mumbai. In Kurla, traffic near Sheetal Cinema and Kale Marg was diverted due to inundated roads.
The Aarey route in Goregaon East was affected by waterlogging, prompting authorities to divert traffic via Seepz-Marol Maroshi-JVLR in both directions.
The Andheri subway was temporarily closed to vehicular traffic due to waterlogging. As a result, traffic was redirected to S V Road.
Despite the heavy rainfall and waterlogging, suburban train services operated by the Central Railway and Western Railway remained unaffected. Trains continued to run normally on all routes, ensuring that commuters could travel without major disruptions.
Mumbai and its surrounding areas have been experiencing intermittent heavy showers for the past few days.
The continuous rainfall has caused waterlogging in various parts of the city, affecting road traffic and necessitating diversions to manage the flow of vehicles.
