According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city is likely to witness hot and humid conditions, with daytime temperatures expected to rise significantly.
Meteorologists have predicted that Mumbai’s temperature could touch 35 degrees Celsius, with the minimum temperature likely to hover around 23 degrees Celsius.
The weather department has advised residents to take precautions, as high humidity combined with rising temperatures may lead to discomfort, particularly during afternoon hours.
Authorities have urged citizens to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, especially during peak afternoon hours.
Residents have also been advised to stay hydrated, wear light clothing and consume lighter meals to cope with the rising heat and humidity.
Despite the rising heat, Mumbai’s air quality has improved significantly over the past 24 hours, offering some relief to residents.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board’s Sameer app, the city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) currently stands at 100, which falls under the ‘satisfactory’ category.
Air quality monitoring stations across Mumbai reported mixed but generally improved readings during the day.
Among the areas recording moderate AQI levels, Bandra Kurla Complex recorded an AQI of 118, Borivali East 111 and Andheri East 126.
