The phones were recovered during the second phase of a special operation conducted between September and November, with focus on the devices stolen over the past three years. In the first phase, 684 phones worth over Rs 1.1 crore were returned in July
A total of 57 teams — 28 from Central Railway and 29 from Western Railway — worked tirelessly to track and recover stolen mobiles across 17 states and Union Territories, including Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman, and Diu
Once a complaint is lodged via the 1512 helpline and verified, two teams monitor the device’s IMEI and hardware. Phones are tracked whenever switched on, and once located, they are recovered and returned after due verification
