According to the weather department, temperatures in several areas are expected to remain significantly above normal, while severe heatwave conditions could be experienced particularly in interior and less coastal areas
The daytime or afternoon temperatures are likely to rise sharply, while humidity may make conditions feel even hotter
Across Maharashtra, a heatwave alert has been issued for Akola, Amravati, and Wardha districts
IMD said the maximum temperature in Mumbai is likely to reach around 38 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may remain near 24 degrees Celsius on Tuesday
Citizens have been advised to stay hydrated and drink sufficient water even if they do not feel thirsty to avoid dehydration
IMD has appealed to citizens to take precautionary measures while stepping out during peak hours, warning that heat cramps and rashes are likely. IMD has also appealed to citizens to wear light cotton clothes, avoid direct sunlight during peak hours, and take frequent rest breaks during outdoor activities
