The festival of lights - Diwali (also known as Deepavali), is here. Diwali holds significance for Hindus as it symbolises the victory of good over evil. After a two-year lull due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Mumbai is celebrating Diwali without any pandemic-related restrictions.

Diwali is celebrated over five consecutive days. But, this year, as per the Hindu calendar, 'Laxmi Pujan' and 'Narak Chaturdashi' will be celebrated on the same day on Monday, while 'Diwali Padwa' and 'Bhaubeej' will be observed on Thursday, after a day's gap.

Dhanteras, which happnes to be the second day of the five-day festival, is being celebrated on Saturday. On this day, it is considered an auspicious tradition to purchase gold. In Dadar, women were spotted buying atrifical jewellery.
