Eknath Shinde, who took oath as the chief minister of Maharashtra on June 30 after leading the revolt in Shiv Sena that brought down the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA coalition government, has risen to the current position from grassroots level. The 58-year-old leader who hails from western Maharashtra's Satara district shifted to Thane, a Sena bastion adjacent to Mumbai, in his young days and started his political career in the same city.
