This initiative by the Delhi Police aims to promote gender equality and women's empowerment by showcasing a contingent entirely composed of women personnel.

A significant proportion, 80 per cent to be precise, of the participants in this year's Republic Day parade from the Delhi Police hail from the northeastern states. This move is part of a strategy to bridge the gap between the police force and the people from that region.

Led by Indian Police Service (IPS) officer Shweta K Sugathan, a contingent of 194 female head constables and constables are diligently practicing at the Kartyava Path in preparation for the parade.

The members of this contingent, particularly from the armed unit & the northeastern personnel, are immensely thrilled and honoured to represent both the Delhi Police & northeastern public on this grand occasion.

Additionally, the Delhi Police's women's pipe band, headed by constable Ruyangunuo Kense, will play the "Delhi Police Song" during the parade, marking another stride towards inclusivity and female representation.

The all-women marching contingent is expected to captivate attention and admiration during the Republic Day parade, symbolizing not just celebration but also the spirit of empowerment and equality.

The Delhi Police's participation in every Republic Day parade since India's republic status in 1950 is commendable, with 15 awards for the best marching contingent, underscoring their motto of "Peace, Service, and Justice." This year marks another significant milestone in their legacy.
