While some idols which drifted ashore had partially dissolved, some of the bigger ones were still intact and were cleared by authorities.

The administration had deployed cranes to facilitate the transportation of large Ganesha idols to the seashore for immersion.

Due to the processions, traffic restrictions were in place to ensure the smooth flow of the Visarjan rituals.

Additional security measures were implemented by the Greater Chennai Police to handle the large gatherings during the Ganesh Chaturthi Visarjan.

The festival celebrates birth of Lord Ganesha and lasts for ten days, culminating in the Ganesh Visarjan. During this time, Lord Ganesha is believed to descend to Earth with Goddess Parvati.

The Greater Chennai Police had set rules for the installation and worship of Ganesha idols in the city during the festival.

The GCP had prohibited many things like bursting of crackers during the festivities and visarjan processions.

Reportedly, representatives from various outfits, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad, BJP, and Hindu Munnani, gathered to ensure a smooth festival.

Organisers were instructed to follow fire safety rules, monitor electrical connections, and ensure peaceful idol immersions on designated routes.
