Online videos showed flames and smoke billowing from a two-storey building as patients fled in their beds. The civil emergency service reported no casualties as of now. Patients and staff were seen rushing out in darkness following an urgent evacuation warning.

A local journalist claimed the IDF had phoned a doctor, giving only 20 minutes to evacuate. Dozens of displaced civilians sheltering in the hospital courtyard also fled the area.

Al-Ahli is now the only functioning hospital left in Gaza City after the destruction of Al-Shifa and other northern facilities. The Hamas-run media office called the strike a “horrific crime” against patients and healthcare workers.

The hospital had previously been hit in October 2023, an attack that killed hundreds. At the time, Palestinians blamed Israel, while Israel said a failed rocket by Islamic Jihad caused the explosion.
