During his three-day official visit from June 2 to June 4, President Pena is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior Indian leaders. Prime Minister Modi will host a lunch in his honour. The President is also expected to meet President Droupadi Murmu, who will host a banquet, as well as Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar

He is accompanied by a high-level delegation that includes ministers, senior officials, and business leaders
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met with the President of Paraguay, Santiago Pena Palacios, in New Delhi. However, after his official meetings in the capital, President Pena will visit Mumbai, where he is scheduled to interact with state political leaders, business and industry representatives, as well as startups, innovators, and technology experts
This is President Pena’s first visit to India and only the second visit by a Paraguayan president to the country. The visit serves as a valuable opportunity to thoroughly review the full scope of India-Paraguay bilateral relations and engage in discussions on regional and global issues of shared interest
On Monday, President Santiago Pena paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi by laying a wreath at his memorial in Rajghat. The moment was shared by the Ministry of External Affairs on social media, highlighting the significance of the gesture in honoring Gandhi's legacy of peace and non-violence
Paraguay is an important trade partner for India in Latin America, with Indian companies active in its automobile and pharmaceutical sectors. Paraguayan firms, through joint ventures, also operate in India, boosting economic ties. Both nations share similar views on global issues like UN reforms, climate change, renewable energy and counter-terrorism. President Pena’s visit is also expected to further strengthen these relations and promote long-term cooperation
