Announcing Sridevi's name, National Film Awards' film jury head, Shekhar Kapur — who directed her in Mr India — said the actor was the most deserving candidate. She was recognised for her role of an angry mother seeking justice for her daughter in the rape-revenge drama, Mom. "It [the title] was not because of the relationship we shared, but because she was the most deserving candidate for her portrayal in Mom," Kapur said
After the award was announced, Boney Kapoor in a statement said, "'Today, we, as a family, do not know whether we should celebrate or not. We don't know if we should feel elated, laugh with joy, or cry while remembering her. The National Award has come posthumously, but it's something we cherish while remembering her for the artiste that she was. She was a perfectionist, and that was evident in all the 300-plus films she did. It's time to celebrate her achievements. Her legacy will always live on."
For a superstar who had dedicated over 40 years of her life to films, it is only fitting that her husband Boney Kapoor wishes to pay a cinematic tribute to her. As rumours of Kapoor registering the titles - Sri, Sridevi and Sri Ma'am - with the Title Registration Committee of the Indian Motion Picture Producers' Association (IMPPA) did the rounds yesterday, the producer confirmed to mid-day that he is indeed keen on making a movie on India's first female superstar
"I have registered three titles, but I cannot categorically reveal what they are. It's too premature to talk about it," said Boney Kapoor. With a career that saw 300 films and multiple awards, Kapoor agrees that the late superstar Sridevi's journey in the world of cinema is a story that deserves to be told on the big screen. "There are plans to make a film, but I can't tell you whether it will be a biopic or documentary. I don't see the need to rush into anything. Whenever there is any further development, everyone will come to know about it."
Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor were casually dressed when they arrived at the New Delhi airport. Janhvi Kapoor is gearing up for her Bollywood movie Dhadak. The shooting for filmmaker Shashank Khaitan's upcoming movie Dhadak, featuring Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, has concluded
It was between the shoot of Dhadak that Janhvi Kapoor's mother and veteran actress Sridevi died due to accidental drowning in a Dubai hotel. Janhvi put up a brave face and was back to shoot the film within a few days
Preparations for the sangeet ceremony of Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja's impending wedding celebrations on May 7 and 8 have begun. There's chatter that Janhvi Kapoor will be performing on late mum Sridevi's chartbusters, Mere Haathon Mein Nau Nau Chudiyan and Kissi Ke Haath Naa Aayegi Yeh Ladki. Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh (he is related to the Kapoors) will shake a leg to My Name Is Lakhan
