Minissha Lamba was born to a Punjabi family in Delhi on 18th January 1985. She had moved to Jammu for a bit but completed her studies from Delhi itself. Shoojit Sircar noticed Minissha Lamba during one of her ad appearances and signed her for his war drama 'Yahaan' (2005). Minissha Lamba has acted in 'Well Done Abba' (2010), which won the Best National Film Award, made on social issues. Apart from this, Minissha has also acted in films such as 'Corporate' (2005), 'Honeymoon Travels' (2007), 'Dus Kahaniyaan' (2005) among others, but none of these films were successful at the box-office. Minissha Lamba was last seen in the Punjabi film, 'Double Di Trouble' (2014).
Minissha Lamba grabbed a lot of attention when she acted opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the film 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' (2008). The film performed well at the box-office and is her career's biggest hit so far. She has also starred opposite Imran Khan in the film 'Kidnap' the same year.
Minissha Lamba is happily married to her longtime boyfriend and restaurateur, Ryan Tham. Minissha Lamba's husband Ryan Tham is the owner of Juhu nightclub Trilogy and is Pooja Bedi's cousin. Ryan Tham and Minissha Lamba knew each other for 3 years and shocked the entire industry when they decided to tie the knot in 2015 as many were unaware of their relationship. Minissha Lamba and Ryan Tham were party animals even before marriage and their lifestyle has not changed even now.
Minissha Lamba, who has made her stage debut with a theatre production, says she prefers to wait for a good film rather than grabbing any random opportunity just to maintain visibility. Talking about why she isn't seen often in films now, Minissha said: "I think I am not getting the kind of work that I want to do in films, and that is why I am channelising my energy in different creative ventures. I want to do films that are substantial and that make me feel happy. It is better to wait for the right films than indulge in random opportunities."
Minissha Lamba performed in one-act play Mirror Mirror in 2018, in which she essayed 13 characters: "Being a film actress, performing live on stage was nerve-wracking initially, so I had to do a lot of practice. I focused my mind and went through a certain discipline. Eventually, it was great to see how people responded to my performance almost immediately after the show."
While she enjoyed the thrill of performing in the theatre medium, the actress said: "The presence of mind needs to be strong when performing live because there might just a technical glitch that occurs on stage and I have to be smart enough to cover than instantly. There are no retakes like that in a film. But I must say that theatre helped me to discover the artiste within me. I think now I understand my craft better."
Asked about if she is open to doing a web series, Minissha said: "As an actress, I am not limiting myself in any medium but choosing good content. These days so much work is happening in the entertainment industry and I would love to be a part of it. I would love to work with my first director Shoojit Sircar."
In September 2014, Lamba participated in the popular reality show 'Bigg Boss 8' and was evicted after six weeks.
Minissha also recently tried her hand in a fictional show on small screen with a brief stint in Tenali Rama. She also made her web debut with Internet Wala Love in 2018.
