The talented beauty was crowned Miss India International 1976 and she went on to secure second place at Miss International. Nafisa Ali was only 19 years at the time this picture was taken.
Nafisa Ali has worked in many Hindi films, but she is still remembered for her role in the 1979 film Junoon with Shashi Kapoor. In this movie, Nafisa played the role of British girl Ruth Labauder, and Tom Alter played her father. Junoon, directed by Shyam Benegal, was based on Ruskin Bond's fictional novella, A Flight of Pigeons, set around the Indian Rebellion of 1857.

Nafisa Ali became very close to late Shashi Kapoor's family after Junoon, which starred Shashi Kapoor's wife Jennifer Kendal, Nafisa Ali, Tom Alter, Shabana Azmi, Kulbhushan Kharbanda, Naseeruddin Shah, Deepti Naval, Pearl Padamsee and Sushma Seth. It also featured Shashi and Jennifer's children Karan Kapoor, Kunal Kapoor, and Sanjana Kapoor.

Nafisa Ali is married to Arjuna Award-winning polo player Colonel R. S. Sodhi. Post marriage, the actress chose to stop working and enjoy her married life.
Nafisa Ali Sodhi has two daughters Armana, Piya and a son Ajit. Nafisa and her husband are posing with their children. Apparently, her son Ajit is planning to make his Bollywood debut. Renowned filmmaker J.P. Dutta wanted to make a love story with Ajit and his daughter Nidhi Dutta in a film titled Jee Bhar Ke Jee Le. However, things didn't work out and the film was dropped.
Nafisa Ali Sodhi has been a woman of many parts. A national-level swimmer, Miss India 1976, an actress, Nafisa was also a jockey at the Calcutta Gymkhana. In September 2005, she was also appointed the chairperson of the Children's Film Society of India.
Nafisa Ali who is also a social activist and a politician is posing with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. She had contested the 2004 Lok Sabha elections unsuccessfully from South Kolkata. In 2009, she contested the Lok Sabha election from Lucknow on a Samajwadi Party ticket. Ali is currently a member of the Congress party.
Nafisa Ali's other acting credits include Major Saab (1998) where she played Amitabh Bachchan's wife, Life In a Metro (2007) where she played Dharmendra's love interest, Guzaarish (2010) where she played Hrithik Roshan's mother, Yamla Pagla Deewana (2011) where she played Sunny and Bobby Deol's mother.

Nafisa Ali Sodhi's last acting project was Sanjay Dutt starrer Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3, which released in 2018. She played the character of Raj Mata Yashodhara, Uday Pratap Singh's (Sanjay Dutt) mother.
In November 2018, Nafisa Ali announced that she is suffering from peritoneal, ovarian cancer. A family person that she is, Nafisa said her children are the reason for her to get better through her struggle to overcome the disease.
A few months ago, the 61-year-old took to Instagram and shared a photograph of herself along with former Congress president Sonia Gandhi. In the post, Nafisa Ali Sodhi announced that she is suffering from "stage 3 cancer". "Just met my precious friend who wished me luck and to get well from my just diagnosed stage 3 cancer," she had captioned the image.
