Katrina Kaif arrives for the special screening of Bharat at the YRF Studios in Andheri. When Priyanka Chopra walked out of Salman Khan-starrer Bharat, the makers of the film approached Katrina to play to the role of Kumud. In a media interaction, Kat confessed that there was no pressure from director Ali Abbas Zafar or Salman Khan to be a part of Bharat.
"I was fully under the impression that they were going to begin the shoot. And as far as my knowledge is concerned Priyanka (Chopra) was in the film. It was Ali (Abbas Zafar) who told me that 'There is a little change in plan and for some reasons, she is no longer part of the film and I am sending you the script, just read it and react to it'. 'And he absolutely put no pressure, it was just that you react to the script. I read the script and felt this is his best work so far. It was an amazing character to play and then we got straight into work," Katrina Kaif told reporters at the song launch event of Bharat.
Salman Khan on Priyanka Chopra's exit, in a recent chat with media, said, "She (Priyanka) came to meet me one day and said she is going to get married and hence won't be able to work in the film. I had told Priyanka that we will adjust the dates for her. She said that she isn't sure how much time she needs for the preparation of her wedding."

Salman Khan further said that while many actors would give anything for the film, Priyanka chose marriage over it. But this doesn't mean he isn't open to working with her in the future. The actor said that he will definitely work with her if she gets him a meaty role.
Bharat is produced by Atul Agnihotri, Alvira Agnihotri, Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar under the banner of Reel Life Production Pvt Ltd. and Salman Khan Films, presented by T-Series. The film is a historical period drama written and directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. Bharat releases on June 5, 2019.
