Masaba Gupta says that women have a raw deal when it comes to body image. How we feel about our bodies could be half the battle won. "A little extra arm fat is okay, if your weight is in check," she argues. "Your goal should be to run up a flight of stairs unhindered, to go eight hours without 30 cups of coffee. As women, we should shut the voices in our heads. There is too much scrutiny going on in front of the mirror."

In a city like Mumbai, when you have a crazy professional life, we are always surrounded by people, and all we are doing is interacting either with professionals or friends. There is so much noise around us and it goes in our headspace as well."

Masaba Gupta suffers from Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD), a condition of multiple cysts in the ovaries. The lifestyle disorder is known to have a connection with weight. She chose to control her diet and tweak her routine instead of relying on pills to keep the condition that's characterised by erratic hormone levels and infertility, in check
In August 2018, Masaba Gupta took to Instagram to post a long joint statement addressing her separation from Madhu Mantena. She wrote, "To our family and friends, with a lot of sadness, Madhu and I have today decided to go on a trial separation in our marriage. Both of us have taken this decision after consulting professionals and our parents. The only thing we are ready to say right now is, 'what we both want out of life individually and separately is putting unnecessary pressure on the marriage and the love that we share. Hence we would take time off from each other and our marriage to figure out for ourselves what we want out of this life." (sic)
Masaba Gupta's post further read, "We also want to say that this is a tough time for us and we want to really protect our privacy at this time. We still hope to find reconciliation in our individual paths and dreams and hence this privacy is important for us now. We are not strong enough to explain ourselves to even friends who deserve an answer from us. All we can say to each of them is give us time and give us love when we reach out to you. We now need a lot of it." (sic)
In March 2019, Masaba Gupta and filmmaker Madhu Mantena filed for divorce at Bandra Court in Mumbai. In a joint statement, Masaba Gupta and Madhu Mantena said, "After much thought and consideration, we have come to an amicable conclusion on all matters. We have decided to move forward separately and get divorced." "We are two individuals who respect and care for each other and have made our own choices. We would appreciate if we are given our privacy in this time," they added.
